Description

microbit mini-speaker connectionsA small speaker in a box with a basic transistor amplifier. This is not a boom box, it produces a reasonable level of sound for a student to hear their program in action.

The red lead goes on 3V, the black lead goes on GND, the blue lead goes on Pin 0.

As the transistor amplifier requires power, it does need the leads the correct way around.

This code block example plays five notes when button A is pressed.

A fuller script, Music,  will play a couple of tunes and act as a light controlled theremin.

Transcribing music to the micro:bit is a great co-operative activity, those that can read music can assist those that don’t.

The standard notes are all in the middle C octave.

You can enter a frequency in Hertz for other notes, drag over a number block and enter the frequency:

In this table, C4 is middle C.
